Is Direct Selling the way forward in this current economic climate?

There is much in the news these days about how we are losing our High Street shops and I am awaiting the report from Mary Portas with interest.

As someone who has owned several High Street shops in the past I know only too well there are several issues making it difficult for High Street owners.  Rising rents,  high rates,  lack of, or expensive parking , the convenience of the supermarket providing everything under the one roof, all contribute to falling numbers of consumers on the High Street.

The BBC news this morning had a slot on Direct Selling showing how it was becoming increasingly popular. There are many Direct Selling Companies out there. The one most people are probably aware of is the cosmetic company Avon who has been around successfully for many years.

The added bonus with Direct Selling is that you can also earn money!

You can have a business without all the start up costs, you are able to work from home, and the parent company works with you.

The reason I find Telecom Plus/ Utility Warehouse so attractive is, that unlike many of the other Direct Sales Companies out there , I am not having to move a product – and I certainly do not have to hold any stock ! I am providing a service that everyone needs and everyone uses – and at best value prices! This gives households more disposable income at the end of the month and disposable income is what determines our standard of living. By reducing business overheads I am helping the business with their profit margin.
